The USTA Texas Tennis Foundation Announces the Dr. Murray Coulter Memorial Scholarship

Tennis in Texas has always been propelled forward by people who quietly give more than they take, people who serve their communities, champion opportunity, and open doors so that future generations can play, compete, and thrive. Few embodied that spirit more completely than Dr. Murray Coulter.
To honor his remarkable impact, the USTA Texas Tennis Foundation is proud to establish the Dr. Murray Coulter Memorial Scholarship for the 2026 scholarship cycle. The $2,500 award will support a Texas player whose dedication, character, and commitment reflect the values Dr. Coulter lived every day. This scholarship not only celebrates an extraordinary leader, but expands the Foundation’s growing investment in nurturing young athletes and strengthening the fabric of tennis across our state.
A Foundation Rooted in Expanding Opportunity

Scholarships
Our academic and need-based scholarships help young Texans pursue higher education while staying connected to the sport that shaped them. These awards support students from diverse backgrounds, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college.
Junior Travel Grants
We help competitive junior players reach high-level tournaments that might otherwise be financially out of reach.
NJTL Support
In partnership with USTA Texas, the Foundation helps support funding toward National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) scholarships.
Adaptive Tennis
We believe tennis is for everyone. The Foundation is proud to support adaptive programming including vital support for innovative events such as the North America Para Standing Championships which features a slate of players from Texas and across the world.
Together, these initiatives build a stronger, more inclusive tennis community, one scholarship, one grant, one child, and one opportunity at a time.
