AUSTIN, Texas – The USTA Texas Tennis Foundation is proud to announce a new addition to its slate of 2023-2024 scholarships. Five new awards will honor Texas Tennis Hall-of-Famer Ron Woods of Corpus Christi thanks to a recent generous donation from Puente de Maravillas.
Woods, a 2011 inductee into the Texas Tennis Hall of Fame, has made an indelible impression on tennis in Texas. From an early age, Woods distinguished himself as a top tennis player and earned a scholarship to play for the University of Houston. As a coach and leader, he has been widely decorated at both the state and national levels and has served as a volunteer with USTA Texas for over 40 years.
The Ron Woods Scholarships are available for the 2023-2024 academic year along with the Foundation’s existing scholarship efforts. Young Texans are encouraged to apply for these awards which are designed to assist with college educational expenses. While tennis experience is encouraged, it is not required and these scholarships are awarded based on the merit and needs of applicants. Read more about Ron Woods.
The deadline for 2023 Scholarship applications is Monday, May 1st, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.
Scholarship support provides students an opportunity to obtain a college education without incurring some of the financial hardships that can come with earning a degree. The support helps students fulfill many goals, develop their talents and broaden their horizons through educational success.
